Advantages of depression:
It makes you sit and analyze your life.
It makes you ambitious.
It makes you rethink your potential.
It makes you want to work more and work hard.
It gives you the motivation to prove yourself.
It makes you realize time is important and you should use it better.
It helps you to realize there after all maybe some truth in what your neighbours and friends and relatives have been telling you. Damn!
It makes you admire the people who have it in them to become successful and select your adversaries you envy and whom you want to defeat.
It fills you with a competitive spirit.
It makes you want to kick yourself and finally,
If nothing it helps the psychiatrist and counselor earn a living. And if that purpose is not served, it makes you want to decrease the population of the world! Since stress is the cause of most diseases, doctors too can earn their bread and butter, thanks to it! Finally, the most depressed people stop thinking and lead a mindless and moronic or at least a robotic life. This helps all the endless tele shopping networks to sell their useless products. It also helps the soap sagas because most people watch it to cry out their depression. Last but not the least, it helps the politicians as people are too depressed to bother with them. They are too depressed to care on how their own life or their country is being ruined!
Advantages of democracy:
One can blame all personal and professional failures on the government.
One can publicly curse each and every politician to the heart’s content. See, we are one up on the communist countries!
One can always hope. Or at least hope against hope that the political situation might improve.
One can vote or not. In any case it wouldn’t make a difference!
Some poor, illiterate and ignorant populace may get Rs100 or 500 due to a corrupt politician. Probably the first time they see that much money at one go! In some areas, a square meal and liquor too!
School and college children get a holiday on election day!
It’s the only way we can here of allocation of crores of rupees for us-for education, roads, hospitals; still for us. Not that we will ever get to see so much money ever but it feels good to hear that!
At least on paper we can help the aam aadmi and kisaan and feel like responsible citizens.
One can spit anywhere, beat up anybody, rape, kill anyone and get released on bail! Mera bharat mahaan!
10. Its the only way to see unity in diversity. All corrupt politicians, police, government officials, anti-social elements, from top to bottom so much attuned to each others needs. And who isn’t corrupt?!
11. It fills one with the patriotic fervour especially as one gets holidays on birth and death anniversaries of patriotic leaders, on republic day and independence day.
12. Couldn’t be more proud of labour day as May 1 is a holiday!
13. Feel so purposeful during strikes, bandhs, riots and curfews! This is democracy! Government by the people! We can stop our town, city, state or country with the help of a few hoodlums!
14. We can be proud that we teach B.E.S.T and Railways a lesson for the delay in commuting by burning a few bus and trains! Kudos to us! No sarcasm here. After all, railway declares the train as our property and all the damages will be recovered from the taxes paid by us.
15. We can recycle paper without the help of a paper shredder or complex machinery as is done in government offices. Just send the files from one table to another!.
